What You Need to Know Before Getting Botox

We use Botox and other neurotoxins to smooth forehead lines, contour the jawline, and create a more balanced smile. Here’s what to know before your next Botox appointment.

  1. It’s not a one-and-done

With regular neurotoxin treatments, targeted muscles become less dominant over time, helping to soften expression lines. While muscle function is preserved, lines typically appear smoother and less visible.

  1. You might need more units than expected

Everyone's facial anatomy is different. You may need more units than your friend to get the same results, and that’s totally normal. It also depends on the product used. For instance, 15 units alone is usually not enough to adequately address the full forehead area.

  1. Always share your full medical history

There is a reason only certified medical professionals can administer tox. It requires a thorough consultation, consent forms to be signed, and much more. Certain medications or conditions can affect how tox works or increase risk of side effects.

  1. Lines can look more noticeable as it wears off

As Botox or other neurotoxins wear off, facial muscles regain movement and expression lines return to their natural baseline. After about 12 weeks of smoother skin, this change can make lines seem more visible again.

  1. Skip the wine and ibuprofen the night before

Alcohol and medications such as ibuprofen can thin your blood, which may lead to increased bruising. Give your skin the best chance to heal cleanly by skipping these before your treatment.

  1. Consistency is key for best results

For best results, schedule treatments every 3–4 months. Staying consistent helps “train” your muscles and keeps your skin looking its smoothest.

Whatever you decide I’ll be here to walk you through the process!
